Christmas Gifts for Bourbon Lovers (2026): What to Wrap and When to Order

Christmas gifts for bourbon and whiskey lovers from a 150+ bottle collector: stocking stuffers, host gifts, shipped bottles, and when to order each one.

By Charles McQuain5 min readNov 1, 2026

How I picked these

Written from the receiving end. I have 150-plus bottles at home, and I use Glencairns and the Aged & Ore Bottle Flight myself. I haven't tested the other products here, so those picks are the gifts I'd want to open, and each one says why. Prices and stock were checked on each retailer's own page on November 1, 2026, except the Amazon Glencairn price. Merchants hadn't published 2026 Christmas cutoffs, so the order-by dates are my own estimates.

Honestly, anything bourbon related makes me happy, and I doubt the bourbon lover on your list is much harder to please. So don't overthink this. Pick the situation you're shopping for below, and check the order-by dates before you wait on anything that ships.

Three easy Christmas wins

Who are you shopping for?

You need something small for a stocking
A nice glass and a mini bottle · Under $30, and it’s what I’d want in mine
You’re headed to someone’s house and they already have a good bar
Bourbon chocolates, bitters, or Old Fashioned mix · A different touch beats another bottle they may already own
They live far away and you want real bourbon on the doorstep
A GiveThemBeer or BroBasket set · Licensed sellers shipping real bottles, with an adult signature at delivery
You want the gift to last through December
An advent calendar · A pour every night, but this is the one to order first
You want the big one under the tree
A smoker kit or tasting flight · Things they’d use for years but might not buy for themselves
It’s December 23
Your local liquor store · Nothing has to ship, and a good store can steer you to a great bottle

Stocking stuffers under $30

If you asked me what I'd want in my own stocking, I'd say a nice glass and a mini bottle. A 50ml mini costs a few dollars at most liquor stores, and it turns a glass into a complete little gift: something to pour, and something to pour it into.

Aged & Ore Neat Glass, a hand-blown crystal whiskey glass with a narrowed mouth
Featured Pick
$22

Aged & Ore Neat Glass

A hand-blown, lead-free crystal neat glass with a narrowed mouth that concentrates aroma and a flared lip built for a comfortable sip. Most bourbon drinkers already own a Glencairn — this is the upgrade almost nobody has.

Why it works: This is the glass half of that stocking. Hand-blown crystal in a shape most people don't already own, so it still works for someone with a full cabinet. Drop a mini from your local store next to it and you're done for under $30.

If you'd rather go classic, a set of two Glencairn glasses (about $22 on Amazon) is what I use for tastings, and two means they can share the mini with someone.

Aged & Charred 6oz wood flask with mahogany wood wrap and funnel
Featured Pick
$24.99

Aged & Charred 6oz Wood Flask With Funnel

A stainless steel flask wrapped in real mahogany wood, with a leak-proof cap and funnel included. Reads nothing like the usual brushed-metal flask — the wood grain makes every one slightly different.

Why it works: A flask is a stocking classic for a reason, and this one comes with a funnel so nobody spills good bourbon filling it. It's small enough to fit, and it looks a lot better than the stainless ones at the drugstore.

Three more that fit a stocking:

Gifts for the host

When I'm going to someone's house, I like bringing something with a different touch. A bottle is fine, but a bourbon drinker may already own it. Chocolates and cocktail ingredients are harder to duplicate, and they get used.

Start with bourbon chocolates. Rebecca Ruth has been making bourbon balls in Kentucky since 1938: a bourbon cream center, dark chocolate, and a pecan on top. A Taste of Kentucky sells a 16-piece box for $36.99, or you can buy the 32-piece box from Rebecca Ruth directly for $55. I don't earn anything on these two links. They're on the list because they're the gift I'd bring.

Aged & Charred Ultimate Old Fashioned Kit in Maple After Dark flavor with syrup, cherries, and orange slices
Featured Pick
$49.99

Aged & Charred Ultimate Old Fashioned Kit — Maple After Dark

The complete Old Fashioned kit in a maple brown sugar flavor — rich and a little darker than the classic syrup, built for cooler-weather sipping.

Why it works: An Old Fashioned kit is the host gift that gets opened that same night. Maple After Dark is the wintry flavor, and syrup, cherries, and orange garnish take the planning out of a round of drinks. If they'd like something sweeter, the Cherry Pecan Pie version is the same price.
Woodford Reserve bitters gift pack with five small dropper bottles
Featured Pick
$54.99

Woodford Reserve Bitters Gift Pack (Set of 5)

Five 10ml dropper bottles of Woodford Reserve bitters, including chocolate, orange, aromatic, and spiced cherry. Small bottles, but enough to change a lot of Old Fashioneds.

Why it works: Anyone who makes Old Fashioneds at home probably has one bottle of bitters. This gives them five, from a distillery they already know. The bottles are small at 10ml each, so think of it as a set for experimenting. It's the fun part of making a cocktail, and most people won't buy it for themselves.

Want to spend less? A single bottle works too. Regans Orange Bitters ($13.99) or Peychaud's ($12.99) tied to a box of chocolates makes a nice pairing.

Real bottles you can ship

You can't buy bourbon on Amazon, and any marketplace listing that says otherwise isn't what it claims to be. To send a real bottle, use a licensed seller. Someone 21 or older has to sign for the box, so ship it to where a person will be home.

Woodford Reserve bottle with Bittermilk Old Fashioned mixer, maraschino cherries, and an orange slice
Featured Pick
$99 + $15 shipping

Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Gift Basket

A 750ml Woodford Reserve with Old Fashioned mixer, cocktail cherries, and an orange garnish, in a themed gift box. Everything but the ice for someone who drinks their bourbon stirred.

Why it works: This is the safest bet if you don't know their shelf: a bottle most bourbon drinkers like, plus everything to make an Old Fashioned with it. It covers the neat drinker and the cocktail drinker in one box.
Buffalo Trace bourbon bottle with two rocks glasses
Featured Pick
$129 + $15 shipping

Buffalo Trace Bourbon Gift Set

A 750ml Buffalo Trace and two whiskey glasses in a themed gift box with your message. The safest excellent bottle, shipped ready to pour.

Why it works: A dependable bottle and two glasses, which makes it feel like a gift for two. If this is going to a couple, this is the one I'd send.
Twelve 50ml bourbon minis including Woodford Reserve, Bulleit, Elijah Craig, Four Roses, and Maker's Mark
Featured Pick
$89 + $15 shipping

GiveThemBeer Bourbon Sampler

Twelve 50ml bourbons in a themed gift box, with names like Woodford Reserve, Maker's Mark, and Bulleit. The most bourbons per dollar of any shipped gift we've found.

Why it works: If you have no idea what they like, send twelve bottles and let them figure it out. It's a good answer for someone newer to bourbon, and twelve different pours are hard to duplicate.
BroBasket Buffalo Trace bourbon gift basket with a 750ml bottle, rocks glass, ice mold, and snacks
Featured Pick
$99.95

Buffalo Trace Bourbon Gift Basket

A full 750ml of Buffalo Trace with a rocks glass, a sphere ice mold, and snacks. The under-$100 basket built around a bottle a bourbon drinker actually wants.

Why it works: A second seller is worth having, because shipping rules vary and stock moves in December. If GiveThemBeer can't reach your recipient or is out of what you want, check here next.

Check the state first. GiveThemBeer can't ship to AL, AK, AR, DE, HI, KY, MN, MS, MT, RI, SD, TX, UT, or WV, and each seller has its own list. Texas is on that one, so I'd be buying from a local store myself. Our gift baskets and gift sets guides have more options.

The Christmas countdown: advent calendars

This is the one to order first, because it has to be there before December does. It's also the one category where you need to be careful: a couple of Decembers ago my wife gave me a "Buffalo Trace advent calendar" that turned out to be full of plastic ornaments. Buffalo Trace has never made one. The full story and the rule that spots the fakes are in our calendar guide.

GiveThemBeer 12 Days of Bourbon advent calendar box with Maker's Mark and Clyde May's minis standing in its doors
Featured Pick
$99 + $15 shipping

GiveThemBeer Bourbon Advent Calendar 2026 (12-Day)

Twelve 50ml bourbons behind numbered doors. GiveThemBeer has revealed Bulleit, Woodford Reserve, WhistlePig, and Maker's Mark alongside independent distilleries like Mystic and 10th Mountain, and keeps the rest a surprise. Shipping now, adult signature required.

Why it works: Twelve doors, all bourbon, and the cheapest all-bourbon calendar in our guide. It can start as late as December 13 and still land door twelve on Christmas Eve, which gives you a little more time.
GiveThemBeer Whiskey Advent Calendar box with Four Roses, Bulleit, and Clyde May's minis standing in its numbered doors
Featured Pick
$159 + $15 shipping

GiveThemBeer Whiskey Advent Calendar 2026 (24-Day)

Twenty-four 50ml whiskeys across bourbon, rye, Scotch, Irish, Tennessee, and American whiskey. The revealed names include WhistlePig, Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, and New Riff, plus independents like Mystic, 10th Mountain, and Willie's. Adult signature required.

Why it works: A door for every night from December 1, at $7.25 a pour delivered. It isn't all bourbon, so it's better for someone who enjoys whiskey generally. Order this one soonest.

A bigger gift under the tree

One of my favorite gifts is a stopper display from my wife that I'd never have bought myself. That's the idea here: something they'd enjoy for years, but would talk themselves out of.

Aged & Charred cocktail smoker barrel kit with a 5-liter oak barrel, smoke lid, butane torch, and wood chips
Featured Pick
$179.99

Aged & Charred Cocktail Smoker Barrel Kit

A 5-liter oak barrel cocktail smoker with a clear acrylic door, internal LED lights, Smoke Lid, culinary torch, butane, and wood chips. It smokes up to three rocks glasses at once and doubles as a showpiece on the bar — the top-tier statement smoker.

Why it works: This is a showpiece for the bar cart, and it makes a good moment on Christmas night when the smoke comes out. If they've been curious about smoked cocktails, our smoker guide compares this against cheaper kits.
Aged & Ore Spirits Flight, four crystal tasting glasses on a wall-mounted aluminum tray
Featured Pick
$58

Aged & Ore Spirits Flight

Four lead-free crystal tasting glasses on a wall-mountable powder-coated aluminum tray, each etched A through D with matching silicone bottle tags for blind tastings. Built for someone who already runs their own side-by-side comparisons at home.

Why it works: Four glasses on a tray, each etched A through D, with matching bottle tags. It turns bottles they already own into a real side-by-side tasting, so it works even for someone with a full shelf.

Buying for a collector? Gifts for the bourbon lover who has everything goes deeper, including store-pick single barrels and premium distillery tours. There's also our guide to gifts for dad.

If you're out of time

Go to your local liquor store. Nothing has to ship, and it's where you'll find store-pick single barrels, which make a great gift anyway. Ask the whiskey buyer what they'd take home, grab a mini or two for the stocking, and pick up a box of chocolates or bitters if they have them.

My $5 advent kit is the other late option, since you download and print it at home. Its tasting cards also work as a printable add-on to a bottle.

When to order so it arrives by Christmas

Christmas is on a Friday this year. Carrier ground cutoffs land around December 15 to 17 depending on the service, and I'd give yourself some room before that. None of these merchants had published 2026 Christmas dates when I checked on November 1, so these are my own estimates, not guarantees. Check at checkout, and pay for faster shipping if you're cutting it close.

Frequently asked questions

What's a good Christmas gift for a bourbon lover?
If you don't know their shelf, skip the guessing on a bottle. A nice glass with a mini is an easy small gift, an Old Fashioned kit or bourbon chocolates work well for a host, and a GiveThemBeer set like the Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned basket is a safe way to send real bourbon. Honestly, bourbon people are easy to please.
What can I put in a bourbon lover's stocking?
A nice glass and a 50ml mini from a local liquor store is what I'd want. Other good fits under $30 include a flask, a large-cube ice tray, a bottle of brown sugar syrup or bitters, and a small box of bourbon balls.
What should I bring a host who loves bourbon?
Something with a different touch instead of another bottle they may already own. Bourbon chocolates, a set of bitters, or a good Old Fashioned mix all get used, and they're hard to duplicate.
Can you ship bourbon as a Christmas gift?
Yes, through licensed sellers like GiveThemBeer and BroBasket, though not to every state. GiveThemBeer can't ship to AL, AK, AR, DE, HI, KY, MN, MS, MT, RI, SD, TX, UT, or WV. Someone 21 or older has to show ID and sign at delivery. Amazon doesn't sell bourbon, so any marketplace listing claiming otherwise is misleading.
When should I order bourbon gifts for Christmas?
Order advent calendars by about November 15, and most shipped gifts by about December 8 to 15. Those are my own estimates, because merchants hadn't published 2026 cutoffs on November 1. A local liquor store works right up to Christmas Eve.

The bottom line

You really can't go too wrong. For a stocking, get a nice glass and a mini. For a host, bring chocolates or something for the Old Fashioneds. To send real bourbon, I'd start with the GiveThemBeer Woodford Old Fashioned basket. And if you want an advent calendar, order that one now.
